Cruise Details
An opportunity to brush up on those skills that have been unused over the winter months. A relaxed Saturday on the water starting in the Clubhouse at 0930 for coffee and a briefing before going afloat to practice various manoeuvres under sail including reefing, heaving to and anchoring. Experience how your boat behaves under engine ahead and astern. Experiment with sail trim and spinnaker sailing. Opportunities abound to solicit on-board advice and learn from your fellow cruisers.
Following the session on the water we will head over to the Academy for marina berthing techniques under supervision. Then onto booked berths at Portland marina for the night.
After our day on the water we plan to assemble for a relaxed supper at Salt, on the marina.
On Sunday morning you can practice the exercises from the previous day in your own time.
This is a popular event full of helpful hints and tips and a chance to make sure all the boat systems are in good order.
Come for the seamanship and the supper or just one or the other.
Also if you want to come along and don't have access to a boat, pop yourself on the crew finder and we'll get you on a boat. Please state whether you are coming for Saturday or Sunday or both.
