Top Result for Merryn at Welsh WASZP Nationals!

We love hearing from members who have taken part in events outside of CCSC. Merryn Attridge has written about his recent trip to Bala: At the end of September, I attended the Welsh Wasp Championships at Bala Sailing Club in North Wales. The 7 hour car journey made it a long trip and the sheep on the road certainly added a surprising element! However, the setting made the journey worth it as did the

    CCSC Solent Cruise 2024

Silver Girl started out on the Thursday night to take a good tide to Swanage for an overnight stay on the SC swinging mooring. £15.00. Jenorah and Seraphim started out Friday morning as the sun came up against a foul tide to head for Lymington. Unfortunately Jenorah picked up a lobster pot line on leaving Swanage close to Peveral ledge! This meant it had taken Steve (Jenorah) a long time to meet up with Silver

    Mupe Cruise

A lovely little cruise was taken by the CCSC cruisers. Monica Wolff had always wanted to do this regular pilgrimage down to Mupe, but the stars had rarely aligned appropriately. Luck was with them this year and Steve and Monica cadged a lift with Seraphim and BONI respectively. The intrepid crew of Peccadillo made the cruise 3 boats in total for the night. The way out was a lovely downwind sail with sufficient wind

Oppi Nationals 2024 Report By Mary Peats

Nearly 250 Optimists attended the Oppi nationals this year, including sailors from Czech Republic, USA, Netherlands, Spain, Ireland and Poland. There were 4 fleets - coached regatta, racing regatta, junior main and senior main. I was in coached regatta and Thomas was in racing regatta. It was my first time sailing at a different sailing club and it felt very daunting at first but when we were introduced to our coached regatta group, I

Boats, Bands and Bromptons.... Cherbourgers 2024

We sailed all the way to Cherbourg apart from engine assistance for the last part. In France we enjoyed a mass bike ride - all 4 Bromptons plus several hired electric bikes. Later that evening there was the Cherbourg Solstice music festival throughout the town. On return there was little or no wind back to Weymouth although we were helped by the genoa in the last quarter. See the full report HERE
